The Art of Slow

About this piece

An original sea turtle painting, worked in professional heavy-body acrylic paints. The scales, the coral, and the beams of light are built up layer by layer for texture and depth. Every brushstroke is freehand, so this is an original and not a reproduction.

It was painted little by little, often late at night, after long shifts as a Labor and Delivery nurse. Painting is how I slow down. The natural wood floating frame is handcrafted by my husband, and the reinforced wire hanger on the back is tested before the piece leaves the workshop.
